Meet Our Staff
Lynn McClain, Pastor
Pastor Lynn McClain was born the first time on June 21st, 1949 in Langdale, Alabama. He met and married his High School sweetheart, Linda. On October 4th, 1970 they both were born again here at Kenwood. Just a little more than a month later the Lord called Brother Lynn to preach.
In August of 1972, Brother Lynn and Mrs. Linda moved to Wolfpit, Kentucky to attend Southland Bible Institute. Brother Lynn began his pastoral service in 1974 in Jenkins, Kentucky. He graduated from Southland Bible Institute in May of 1975 and continued to pastor in Jenkins until 1977. He was then called to pastor Happy Valley Baptist Church in Lanette, Alabama. Then in 1980, he was called to Victory Baptist Church in Roanoke, Alabama. Five years later, Brother Lynn was called to Eastside Baptist Church in LaGrange, Georgia. Two years later he would move back to Alabama, this time to pastor Philadelphia Baptist Church in Opelika. In 1996 the Lord let Brother Lynn back to Kenwood First Baptist Church as the Associate Pastor. In January of 1998 Brother Lynn has been the full time pastor here at Kenwood.
Brother Lynn and Mrs. Linda have two children, Tammy and Michael, and six grandchildren, Chase, Seth and Jaxon, Isabella, Emma and Elijah.
Martha Howell, Secretary
Mrs. Martha Howell began attending Kenwood First Baptist Church in 1983 at the invitation of Mrs. Arlene Smith. It was not too long after she started visiting Kenwood that she and her three small boys would fall in love with and join the church family. After they joined Kenwood, she immediately became a dependable and faithful church member who loved being at the church an time the doors were open.
Mrs. Martha and her boys wasted no time getting involved here at Kenwood. Mrs. Martha served in many different ministries at Kenwood including the Choir, Ladies Visitation, Sunday School and currently she is the Sunday School Teacher for the Pre-School class.
In 1988, Mrs. Martha accepted the job of secretary of Kenwood First Baptist Church. For the past eighteen years Mrs. Martha has faithfully served at Kenwood and continues to be a blessing with her caring, and Christ-like sense of humor.
Darrell Hayes Sr., Pastor Emeritus
Dr. Darrell Hayes was born on October 3rd, 1945 in Atlanta, Georgia. He grew up in the Atlanta area with his brothers, and sister. On his 19th birthday he married his wife, Linda.
At the age of 20, Brother Darrell was sitting in his little red doodle-bug and asked Jesus to save him. Just seven months after he got saved, in a Sunday evening church service, he responded to God’s call as they sang “Wherever He Leads I’ll Go.” It was that night that God called Brother Darrell to preach.
Four years later God called Brother Darrell to be the pastor of Kenwood First Baptist Church. In 1977, Brother Darrell was led by God to Clintwood, Virginia to pastor at Calvary Baptist Church. In 1982, God called Brother Darrell back to Kenwood as pastor until 1998. Being sensitive to the Holy Spirit, Brother Darrell felt God’s call again, this time into full time evangelism. He now travels around the country, faithfully teaching and preaching God’s Word.
